Chicago’s Polk Bros Park will host a very important interactive practice within a few days. This special event, announced by Navy Pier, is aimed at attracting the attention of all the city dwellers from old to young with 15 illuminated seesaws. While participants will have fun, it looks like a lot of fun squares will emerge.
Navy Pier’s announcement includes 15 illuminated and musical seesaws at the Polk Bros Park. The Montreal-based performing arts theater Quartier des Spectacles’ internationally acclaimed work ‘Impulse’ is made up of 15 custom-manufactured seesaws illuminated with LED lighting. It starts to give music and sound when it starts to move on. With varying intensity of light, rhythm and repetition, Impulse can be designed to suit different city squares.
Navy Pier spokesman Michelle Boone said, “Impulse is very much in keeping with Chicago’s culturally rich and distinguished art scene, while also in alignment with Navy Pier’s mission of offering unparalleled experiences that inspire discovery and wonder”. The pier invited the residents of the entire from old to young.
Chicago will be only the second U.S. city to host the traveling exhibit, which has made stops in London; Brussels; Lugano, Switzerland; and Scottsdale, Arizona. The Impulse will be exhibited at the Navy Pier from March 10th to May 21st and is also the first major event of the Year of Public Art program.
