Miguel Chevalier has created three separate monumental installations, especially for the Jing and Kerry Center, Shanghai, announcing and celebrating the arrival of spring. The related ‘Digital Water Lilies’ is a new site specific interactive virtual garden that emerges after sunset. This lush flower garden, made up of flowers and various lily plants, moves precisely according to the interaction of guests with the virtual array of flowers. Miguel Chevalier offers a rich variety of flowers for ‘digital water lilies’ such as lilies, orcs, camellias and peach tree flowers. In this magical atmosphere, flowers open up randomly, turning to full bloom, closing and disappearing and re-born. As visitors walk around the 600m² of flower carpet, these interactive gardens turn into flowers that discover new ways of exploring them.
The second insatallation, the ‘Trans-natures’, transforms the Jing and Kerry Center tunnel into a lush 360-degree garden of mysterious arborescence, revealing flowers that create a shiny forms and colors symphony. ‘Trans-natures’, declaring the revival of nature; The fixed frescoes on the walls are accompanied by four interactive virtual flower fields that are reflected on the ground, thus creating a totally immersive sensation.
In the final insatallation, ‘Dreamed Gardens’, the two glass bridges at Jing and Kerry Center transform into semi-transparent, rich, huge colored stained glass windows. Throughout the day, vibrancy of color and the soft light create a magical environment that visually embracing the floor and ceiling.
