In Norwegian town of Lillestrøm, it was prepared a very special project called Sykkel Hotell for the residents of the neighborhood. The project, located near the Lillestrøm railway station, was designed to make cycling even more attractive for urban dwellers. Project’s outdoor lighting also attracts attention as much as architectural aesthetics.
A bicycle hotel opened in Lillestrøm which is known as Norway’s favorite cycling town. The project, located near the Lillestrøm railway station, was designed to make cycling even more attractive to urban dwellers. The design prepared in this context contains the principles of the Neues Bauen movement. The green, public roof-top terrace restores the idle space lost in the city. The soft slope of the wooden roof towards the station square is like an inviting gesture to enter and use the space.
The free form of the roof rests on the glass box of the bicycle hotel. The exterior and interior spaces come to the forefront with its impressive design. Translucent exterior facade elements are exposed in daytime with daylighting function while nights in a fascinating design.
